Built on the same overall architecture as the standard tone station, the 1970 edition features a higher gain transistor in the input stage and an unusual clipping arrangement to offer a more open, tube like sound. Vintage style pointer knobs and a clean red and white color scheme give the 1970 edition a unique, groovy look - but the fun doesn't stop on the outside. Circuit boards are decorated with 1970s dancers and a disco ball, and the components are hand selected to keep with the theme, including vintage power capacitors and carbon film resistors.
Like the standard Tone Station, the 1970 edition is an all discrete light- to medium-gain overdrive with a unique tone control that feels more responsive with the 1970 clipping configuration.
A portion of the proceeds from the 1970 edition will be donated to GRRRLs Rock Columbus.
CONTROLS:
- GAIN: ADJUSTING THIS SETTING WILL INCREASE THE OVERALL GAIN OF THE CIRCUIT PRIOR TO CLIPPING. ALLOWS FOR MORE PRONOUNCED CLIPPING IN HIGHER LEVELS.
- TONE: ADJUSTING THIS SETTING WILL CHANGE THE VOICING OF THE EFFECT. NOT ONLY DOES THE TONE ADJUSTMENT CHANGE THE FILTERING, BUT IT INTERACTS WITH THE CLIPPING.
- LEVEL: ADJUSTING THIS SETTING CHANGES THE FINAL OUTPUT OF THE EFFECT.
- BRIGHTNESS: (INTERNAL) ADJUSTS THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE EFFECT LED INDICATOR.
